Vision Open Afternoon - 6th March 2020
The big day finally arrived with many mums, dads, carers and grandparents joining us to celebrate the launch of our church school vision on Friday afternoon.
Visitors were free to explore the classrooms and talk to the children about the work they had done before enjoying the wonderful displays in the hall and the delicious cupcakes with a cup of tea. A superb afternoon was had by all, with everyone going home with their own bookmark and space to write their goal for 2020 inspired by..."I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength" Philippians 4:13. I wonder what your goal will be?
As a final note, the feedback from all attending was heartwarming and have been collected in a special book in our entrance. One parent said "It has beeen lovely, great work from all children. I love the school vision and principles. Children also reflect kindness and happiness."
Ps, Thanks go to the wardens at Holy Trinity Church who loaned us the original display boards written by our Year 6 children five years ago as part of the Lottery project and which helps keep the project alive and current in school today.
Vision Launch - 24th February 2020
After a very long time in development, we are thrilled to finally have the vision wording and artwork agreed and printed to show everyone all of their hard work. Over time, we have surveyed parents, met with Governors, deliberated with staff and of course worked with the children to really set out, who we are, what we live by and where we are going.
Our vision statement brings this into focus and along with staff and pupil sketches, the matching artwork to display this vision is finally printed and here! Monday saw a launch in worship with each class receiving their class board before returning to class to 'dive' into the text and wording. A further 3 afternoons of varied activities including making rock cakes, learning songs, writing our own Godly play script and prop box have taken place this week with a final celebration with parents planned for Friday 6th March at 2:30pm. We hope to see you there!
Living Our Vision - Mitengo School Update
It's one thing setting a vision, another to live it. That's why we set out to look carefully at our curriculum and make sure that children at JHS were really exploring the local area and all of our wonderful links, as well as the seeing wider into the world.
Advent Spirals
Our class advent spirals gave us chance to experience stillness and reflection. Each participant lit a candle and these appeared in a virtual circle. On the last day of term, we brought all the circles together and watched them as a school. A symbol of the strength of our community when we can't be together in person.
