A new way to be collective
The new guidelines and restrictions due to COVID have brought new challenges around gathering together for collective worship. We have adapted with new ways of working and a revised approach. Worships take place at the same time each day, with the whole school taking part, even if we are not in the same place. Classrooms become our worship space with the lights lowered and candles lit. Our new timetable follows this pattern:
Monday - whole school worship via video link. Mrs Curtis introduces us to the bible text and theme for the week.
Tuesday - wellbeing worship taking place in our classrooms. This gives us time for reflection, stillness and the chance to develop our wellbeing.
Wednesday - working worship. Each class delves deeper into the theme, completing activities and holding discussions.
Thursday - Class led worship via video link to the rest of the school.
Friday - Celebration worship via video link led by Mrs Curtis. We celebrate success, perseverance and being the best we can be.
In addition, we have been lucky enough to recieve pre-recorded worship videos which have been very popular with the children and help us to maintain our community links.
Leavers' Worship
On the final day of term, we held the Year Six Leavers' Worship. The children shared memories of their time at primary school and recieved awards to celebrate their achievements here. During the worship, the Year Sixes performed the poem 'Don't Quit' to the rest of the school. A special message linked to our value of perseverence.
We finished the worship with the Leavers' Song. We are very proud of all of our Year Sixes and we know that they will go forward to achieve great things.
'I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.'
Stained Glass Windows
Our Reception class produced these beautiful stained glass windows after they visited Holy Trinity Church for the first time. Well done, Reception!
Collective Worship Summer 2
Our focus this half term is the Parables of Jesus. We are also celebrating the Trinity following Trinity Sunday taking place during the half term holiday. The Trinity is particularly important to us due to our link to Holy Trinity Church.

Lincoln Church School Festival
Year Six were very happy to be able to take part in the Lincoln Virtual Church School Festival. Over two days, they completed a range of tasks linked to the theme of hope. The children particularly enjoyed dancing to the festival song and making their own 'hope quote' animations in small groups. They also found examples of hope in the news and used these to create a piece of artwork. Their final task was sharing their hopes for the future which they presented in closed flowers which opened when they were placed in water. Many thanks to the Diocese of Lincoln Board of Education for providing the children with the opportunity to explore such an important value.

Our focus value this half term is friendship.
St George's Day
Year 3 did a super job with their acting when they led our St George's Day worship linked to British Values.
In their working worship, Year Two have written superb Friendship poems which they have displayed on their classroom windows to share with the rest of the community.

We enjoyed joining in with the carol service and loved seeing our friends in it when they said the prayer that they had written.
Virtual Carol Service
We are very excited to be taking part in the Lincoln Diocese Board of Education virtual carol service.
Christingle
Year Two led a beautiful Christingle worship today. The classrooms were made even darker than usual as Year Two reminded us about the symbols of the Christingle before inviting us to light them in our classrooms. The quiet moment of reflection which followed resulted in a very peaceful atmosphere around the whole school. As the head girl pointed out in her weekly update to the rest of the school, the whole service was excellent and the children enjoyed listening to the song 'This little light of mine.' Year Two reminded everyone to let their light shine and spread light everywhere they go.
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5.16
Dignity
This week, our worship theme is dignity, linked to the story of The Annunciation. This activity sheet is designed to help families to explore this theme at home.

Remembrance Service
This year's remembrance service, written and led by Year Six, focused on respect and diversity. The whole school joined the service via video call. The children chose music which created a reflective atmosphere and invited the rest of the school to take time to quietly remember those who had died in war. They shared the story of Walter Tull because they felt he was an inspirational person who showed many qualities that we develop in school, especially leadership.
Every child in the school made a remembrance poppy. These were put together to make hearts which the children chose to link to John 15.9-17. One of the hearts is displayed at school and the other was taken to church to share with the wider community.
At eleven o'clock, we held a two-minute silence outside. This was a very moving experience accompanied by the sound of the church bells.

Remembrance Service
Normally, we would hold our remembrance service at Holy Trinity Church, allowing parents and the wider community to attend. As this wasn't possible this year, Year Six have made a recording to share with you online. We hope that you enjoy it.

Harvest
Year Five led our Harvest worship in the last week of the half term. They linked their worship to Respect for the Earth and God's creation. The school held a collection for Barton Food Bank and we were overwhelmed with the response. Year Five met Deacon Helen who delivered the food for us. We are very grateful for all of the donations and we know that they will be put to good use to support local people.
A rainbow of thanks
Following a video worship from Deacon Helen about being thankful, linked to the rainbow, Year One were inspired to make this wonderful display of rainbow hearts. Don't they look amazing?
World Peace Day
Year One led our World Peace Day worship on 21st September with wishes for peace in the world and a lovely spoken rendition of our favourite peace song, 'Shalom'. This fitted our Respect value theme for the week of valuing others. They also created this wonderful peace display.
