School Council

We have a dedicated and focused school council, elected by their peers from each class.

The council holds regular meetings where the year group representatives discuss various matters relating to school improvement and issues which are important to the children. Following discussions, the children hold votes to decide what actions to take and represent the views of the pupils in discussions with school leaders.

The chair, vice-chair and secretary are supported in running meetings with agendas, minutes and actions, with the aim that the council will become self sufficient.

School Council 2022-2023

Last year's school councillors brought the newly elected members of the school council to their first meeting. They handed over their roles by explaining what they had achieved last year and giving some advice for the future. The new council have voted for their chair, vice-chair and secretary who will now have additional support in how to run meetings and keep minutes. The council agreed that their first task would be to choose a focus for their year in the job. We are looking forward to working with them as they represent pupils' views and help to move our school forward.

School Council 2021-2022

This year, the council have decided that their focus will be the environment and raising money.

Our first meeting this year was held in the peace garden.

With the Head Boy and Girl and Deputy Head Boy and Girl, we attended a virtual World Water Day assembly. We learnt about where our drinking water comes from and the importance of not wasting water.

School council have been collecting litter in our local area.

Charlotte said, "We wanted to go litter picking so that we could help the environment and help our village to be tidy."

We asked if we could raise money for children affected by the events in Ukraine. We invited pupils to attend school in their own clothes in return for a handful of coins. We were overwhelmed by the generous donations - an amazing £486 was raised! The money will be sent to Unicef who work to build a better world for every child, every day, everywhere. Thank you to everyone who donated.

We organised fun activities for Red Nose Day including wearing red, designing a red nose and red lunch time games.

We had a meeting with Ann Boulton from Barrow Upon Humber Parish Council. We learnt a lot about the Parish Council and also agreed to help them to collect some pupil voice about the playground equipment at the playing fields.
